S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N
PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 7, 2001 TO BE "FOOD CHECK OUT DAY"
WHEREAS, Healthy food and a well-balanced diet is an important ingredient in the health of all Americans; and
WHEREAS, The maintenance of our agricultural component of our state's businesses is an important goal toward preserving and protecting a well-balanced and self-sustaining Rhode Island economy; and
WHEREAS, Consumers spend only 10.4% of their annual income on food and nourishment, hence a family of four would only need to work until February 7, 2001 in order to provide sufficient funds to incur the expenditures of their annual food bill for the entire year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby recognizes and honors the crucial role which food suppliers in our state provide by proclaiming February 7, 2001 to be "FOOD CHECK OUT DAY"; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Farm Bureau.
