S  E  N  A  T  E     R  E  S  O  L  U  T  I  O  N

DESIGNATING MAY 15TH OF EACH YEAR AS "PEACE OFFICERS' MEMORIAL DAY"

Date Introduced:  March 22, 2001

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby designates May 15th of each year as "Peace Officers' Memorial Day" in honor of the federal, state and municipal officers who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this Senate directs the officials of state government to display at half staff the flag of the United States on all government buildings on May 15th; and be it further

RESOLVED, That this Senate hereby invites all Rhode Island communities and citizenry of the state to join in observing said day with appropriate ceremonies and activities; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Director of Administration, Rhode Island State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police and the Rhode Island International Brotherhood of Police Officers.
