H  O  U  S  E     R  E  S  O  L  U  T  I  O  N

REQUIRING THAT THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS FLAG BE FLOWN OVER THE STATE HOUSE EVERY NOVEMBER 10 TO HONOR THE BIRTH OF THE CORPS

WHEREAS, The United States Marine Corps was originally organized at Tun's Tavern in Philadelphia on November 10, 1775; and

WHEREAS, On November 10th of every year, every Marine Corps facility celebrates the anniversary of the birth of the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, Flying the United States Marine Corps flag over the state house on November 10th will honor the men and women who have served in the finest tradition of the Corps; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby requires that the flag of the United States Marine Corps shall be flown over the State House every November 10th to honor the anniversary of the birth of the Corps; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of the State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Governor Lincoln C. Almond.
