MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PAY CERTAIN CLAIMS

RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2001-2002, the sums stipulated to pay the claims of the following:

Senator DaPonte

the sum of $288.00 to pay the claim of Maureen Mello of 5300 Post Road, Apt. 114, East Greenwich, Rhode Island 02818 for personal injury sustained when bicyclist Mello was struck by a descending arm gate with a faulty sensor at or near Goddard Park, back gate, in the town of East Greenwich, on or about May 30, 2001;

Senator Garabedian

the sum of $1,126.93 to pay the claim of Amica Mutual Insurance Company, P.O. Box 6008, Providence, Rhode Island 02940 as subrogee of Dwight D. Annese of 139 Brayton Avenue, Cranston, Rhode Island 02920 for damages to their insured's vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route 95 southbound and the Exit 16 ramp to Route 10 northbound, in the city of Cranston on or about January 15, 2001;

Senator Polisena

the sum of $91.87 to pay the claim of Elizabeth Antine of 15 Barbato Drive, Johnston, Rhode Island 02919 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near 1700 Atwood Avenue, in the town of Johnston, on or about September 10, 2000;

Senator Raptakis

the sum of $1,165.00 to pay the claim of John Bigden of 7 Lynn Drive, Coventry, Rhode Island 02816 for damages to his vehicle when it was struck by branches and limbs from a diseased tree located at 65 Howard Avenue in the town of Cranston, on or about September 20, 2000;

Senator Alves

the sum of $481.84 to pay the claim of Margaret A. Busch of 33 Judy Terrace, West Warwick, Rhode Island 02893 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near 1062 Centerville Road eastbound, in the city of Warwick, on or about January 20, 2001;

Senator Gallo

the sum of $419.08 to pay the claim of Amica Mutual Insurance Company, P.O. Box 6008, Providence, Rhode Island 02940-6008 as subrogee of Robert S. DiColo of 12 Edgemere Drive, Cranston, Rhode Island 02905 for damages to their insured's vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Post Road eastbound at Industrial Park and the Bank Cafe in the town of Warwick, on or about February 19, 2001;

Senator Kelly

the sum of $655.88 to pay the claim of Michael R. Flood of 186 Flora Avenue, Woonsocket, Rhode Island 02895 for damages to his vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near, Albion Road and Mendon Road in the town of Cumberland, on or about February 26, 2000;

Senator Polisena

the sum of $135.00 to pay the claim of Elaine A. Fournier of 15 Susan Circle, Johnston, Rhode Island 02919 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near Route 295 southbound and the Route 6 Exit in the town of Johnston, on or about May 27, 2000;

Senator Lenihan

the sum of $300.00 to pay the claim of Chelsea A. Haggarty of 256 Main Street, Apt. 2, East Greenwich, Rhode Island 02818 for damages to her vehicle when it struck a highway defect at or near 6860 Post Road northbound, in the town of Kingstown, on or about September 12, 2000;

Senator Algiere

the sum of $1,686.40 to pay the claim of Arthur Pignataro of 45 Tower Street, Westerly, Rhode Island 02891 for damages to his home basement and unscheduled personal property as a result of an alleged catchment/drain failure at or near 45 Tower Street, in the town of Westerly, on or about December 18, 2000;

Senator Enos

the sum of $430.00 to pay the claim of Tallman & Mack, Inc., P.O. Box 253, Tiverton, Rhode Island 02878 for damages to their floating fish trap leader #3 when the Department of Environmental Management vessel Osprey became entangled in it, in an approved area, off of Newport, Rhode Island, on or about May 22, 2000;

Senator Algiere

the sum of $1,354.72 to pay the claim of Linda A. Terranova of 38 Tower Street, Westerly, Rhode Island 02891 for damages to her home basement and unscheduled personal property as a result of an alleged catchment/drain failure at or near 38 Tower Street, in the town of Westerly, on or about December 18, 2000;

and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his orders upon the general treasurer for the payment of said sums.
