AN ACT IN AMENDMENT OF THE ACT, PASSED AT THE JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 1948, ENTITLED " AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE LIME ROCK FIRE DISTRICT IN THE TOWN OF LINCOLN", AS AMENDED

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 8 of the act, passed at the January Session, A.D. 1948, entitled "An Act to Incorporate the Lime Rock Fire District in the Town of Lincoln" approved April 22, 1948, as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows:

Sec. 8. The qualified electors of said district at any legal meeting shall have the power to order taxes and provide for the assessing and collecting of same, on all the taxable inhabitants and property in said district, in such amount as they shall deem necessary for the purchasing and maintaining of all such apparatus, land and houses for keeping same, as called for in section 9 of this act; {DELprovided, however, that no annual levy shall exceed a rate of three dollars ($3.00) per thousand of taxable valuation in the district;DEL} provided, {DELfurther,DEL} however, the minimum charge for any fire tax bill rendered shall be no more than ten dollars ($10.00) {ADDunless such minimum shall be raised by vote of a majority of the electors present and voting on the question at an annual or special district meeting.ADD} The assessors of said district shall assess the taxes so ordered on the taxable inhabitants and property therein according to the last previous valuation made by the town assessors, adding thereto, however, any taxable property omitted by the town assessors, or acquired thereafter; and in assessing and collecting said taxes said assessors and collector shall have recourse to such powers and proceedings as are held and exercised by the corresponding town officers.

SECTION 2. Section 10 of the act, passed at the January Session, A.D. 1948, entitled "An Act to Incorporate the Lime Rock Fire District in the Town of Lincoln" approved April 22, 1948, as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows:

Sec. 10. {DELThe corporation shall not incur indebtedness, funded or otherwise, in excess of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000)DEL} {ADDThe district is authorized to incur indebtedness from time to time to an amount not to exceed five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) outstanding at any one time under its corporate name and seal or a facsimile of such seal.ADD}

SECTION 3. This act shall take full effect upon its acceptance by vote of a majority of the electors present and voting on the question at an annual or special district meeting.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon passage.
