SENATE RESOLUTION DECLARING JANUARY 24, 1996 RHODE ISLAND CERTIFIED SCHOOL NURSE--TEACHER DAY

WHEREAS, Since 1977, the fourth Wednesday in January has been set aside for the recognition of school nurses by the National Association of School Nurses, an affiliate of the Rhode Island Certified School Nurse-Teacher Association; and

WHEREAS, The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations is proud of their leadership, dedication and skill; and

WHEREAS, Today school nurses play a crucial role in children's primary and preventative health care. We all should recognize the many outstanding contributions made to maintain and improve the health of our children by certified school nurse-teachers. School nurses assist students to attain a high level of wellness; they are liasons between education and health care, providing a link between the school, home and community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby declares January 24, 1996, as Rhode Island Certified School Nurse-Teacher Day, and urges all citizens, all educational associations, all news media and other community organizations to join in this salute by encouraging and promoting the goals of certified school nurse-teacher as they contribute daily to the health and well-being of our State; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the secretary of state be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the president of the Rhode Island Association of Certified School Nurse Teachers.
