WHEREAS, Jack Fradin, as a Special Instructor, Lecturer and extraordinary teacher in the University of Rhode Island Accounting Department, contributed to the lifeblood of the University, College of Business Administration, and Accounting Department, for 34 years; and
WHEREAS, Jack Fradin's association with the University of Rhode Island started as a student in the then School of Business at Rhode Island State College in 1945, and ended as a mentor who enriched his students and colleagues with his quest for excellence; and
WHEREAS, Jack Fradin served his country well as a First Lieutenant for the Second Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict; and
WHEREAS, Jack Fradin was an esteemed member of the truly exceptional freshman class of 1945 that included classmates such as Dave Beretta, Bill Ferrante, Judge Vincent Ragosta, Vincent Sarni, and many others who have brought distinction to the University and state; and
WHEREAS, While a student, Jack Fradin was an active member of Tau Epsilon Pi and received the Outstanding Platoon Leader of ROTC Award; and
WHEREAS, Jack Fradin has had an accomplished career as a CPA guiding his clients, as a past president of the Rhode Island Society of CPA's, as a board member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as Past Chair of the State Board of Accountancy, as the Small Business Administration Accountant Advocate in the State of Rhode Island, and as the primary author in the revision of the public accounting laws of the State of Rhode Island; and
WHEREAS, Jack Fradin has served his profession and University, as Faculty Advisory for Tau Epsilon Pi, and his community, as a Big Brother of Rhode Island and as a speaker in the Cranston school system; and
WHEREAS, Jack Fradin is the proud father of three children, the devoted Grampa of four and three-quarter grandchildren (one due in June) and the loving husband of Estelle; and
WHEREAS, Many of his more than 3,000 former students remember Jack Fradin as their favorite URI professor; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby honors the career and achievements of one of the Ocean State's finest educators by proclaiming April 26, 1996 to be "Jack Fradin Day"; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Jack Fradin.
