HOUSE RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING APRIL 22-28, 1996 TO BE "SKY AWARENESS WEEK IN RHODE ISLAND"

WHEREAS, A healthy sky is essential for all Americans, supplying them with sunlight to melt away the winter cold and rain to cool off the summer heat; and

WHEREAS, The sky, with all its awe-inspiring beauty and unrelenting power, has been the inspiration for a myriad of poets, artists, and scientists, both past and present; and

WHEREAS, Sky Awareness Week will provide an opportunity for us all to address the consequential concerns that threaten our skies--global warming, ozone depletion, acid rain, and other polluting threats to our air and water quality; and

WHEREAS, Sky Awareness Week will further educate all citizens in the value of keeping our skies clean and enable them to pass on this knowledge to whom the future of the sky depends--our children; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby proclaims April 22-28 to be "Sky Awareness Week in Rhode Island"; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Raymond G. Vincent--RIBCON.
