HOUSE RESOLUTION RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS REGULATION, ON BEHALF OF THE DIVISION OF RACING AND ATHLETICS, PROMULGATE RULES AND REGULATIONS REQUIRING AIDS TESTING FOR ALL PROFESSIONAL BOXERS AND KICK BOXERS

WHEREAS, Other states now require testing for the HIV virus before granting licenses to professional boxers and kick boxers. It seems only prudent to do so in Rhode Island to protect everyone involved in these sports; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby respectfully requests that the Director of the Department of Business Regulation, on behalf of the Division of Racing and Athletics, promulgate such rules and regulations as are necessary to require that all professional boxers and kick boxers be tested for the HIV virus before being granted a license to compete; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Director of the Department of Business Regulation.
