SENATE RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF MAY AS BE KIND TO ANIMALS MONTH

WHEREAS, More than 700 animal shelters throughout the United States and Canada are joining together for Pet Adoption 96, a unique nationwide effort to find homes for 50,000 homeless dogs, cats, pups and kittens on one weekend, May 3, 4, and 5th; and

WHEREAS, Animal shelters throughout Rhode Island are joining this nationwide effort, including the Bristol Animal Shelter; and

WHEREAS, The goal of this effort is to raise public awareness of the joys of shelter-adopted pets; and

WHEREAS, These shelters always have a healthy selection of various homeless and stray animals on hand for adoption year round; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby proclaims the Month of May as Be Kind to Animals Month; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Sgt. P. Karsh, Animal Control Supervisor of the Bristol Animal Shelter.
