HOUSE RESOLUTION DECLARING MAY 7, 1996 TO BE SOUTH COUNTY TOURISM DAY

WHEREAS, The State of Rhode Island is embarking on a major promotional effort to attract visitors to new and traditional sites across the State of Rhode Island and South County is recognized as a jewel in Rhode Island's crown; and

WHEREAS, Most Rhode Islanders and tourists know South County for its wildlife refuges, its many wonderful beaches and its plethora of fine seafood restaurants but a deeper look discovers many entertaining sights for a tourist to see. There is the Yawgoo Valley Ski area, the flying horse carousel, beautiful and historic Point Judith light house, Great Swamp, which is the site of King Philip's war, and Kenyon Mill, which is the maker of the jonny cake meal, all of which are but a few examples of the many fun and interesting things to do while visiting South County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby proudly declares May 7, 1996 to be South County Tourism Day; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the South County Tourism Council.
