SENATE RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING SUNDAY, MAY 19TH AS INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF TEAMSTERS MEMORIAL DAY

WHEREAS, The International Brotherhood of Teamsters strives towards improving the lives of its community and its members; and

WHEREAS, The International Brotherhood of Teamsters currently has 1.4 million members and over 400,000 retirees; and

WHEREAS, The International Brotherhood of Teamsters has been working towards improving our communities by working towards more effective programs to promote jobs, education, transportation, child care, public safety, housing and the protection of the environment; and

WHEREAS, Members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters have made many important contributions to our state, both individually and collectively; and

WHEREAS, It is important and appropriate to remember those who, in the past, contributed a great deal to our community; and

WHEREAS, With solemn remembrance, we recognize the immense contributions those members, who have since passed away, gave to out state; and therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the senate of the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations proclaims Sunday, May 19, 1996 as the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Memorial Day.
