WHEREAS, The efficient collection of individual state income tax from residents of this state is necessary for the welfare and progress of the State, and
WHEREAS, Increasing the efficiency of such collection while also simplifying the forms used in the best interest of the general public, and of the State as a collective entity, be it
RESOLVED, That there is hereby created a study commission to study the Rhode Island individual income tax return form 1040, to consist of five (5) members of the house of representatives to be appointed by the speaker, four (4) of whom shall be from the majority party, one (1) of whom shall be from a minority party. It shall be the duty of said commission to study and prepare recommendations to the Rhode Island individual income tax return form 1040. The committee shall report its findings to the house of representatives and propose such modifications, amendments and improvements for said form as the commission shall deem advisable, on or before July 1, 1997, and the commission shall expire on September 1, 1997.
