HOUSE RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF AUGUST 4, 1996 AS NORTH KINGSTOWN WATER CONSERVATION WEEK

WHEREAS, Water is a vital natural resource and providing a pure water supply to the citizens of the State of Rhode Island is the responsibility of the municipal governments; and

WHEREAS, Water conservation, and water supply management plans are an integral if not essential parts of water resource management; and

WHEREAS, There is a need to educate people about conservation and the efficient use of drinking water supplies; and

WHEREAS, The Town of North Kingstown in coordination with the Rhode Island Dept. of Environmental Management, Division of Water Supply Management will be encouraging water conservation efforts through a residential retrofit program and through the distribution of free water conservation kits; now, therefor be it

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations in the interest of helping with public education about conservation of our drinking water resources, congratulates the Town of North Kingstown for their efforts and hereby proclaims the week of August 4, 1996 as North Kingstown Water Conservation Week; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Rich Kerbel, Town Manager of the Town of North Kingstown.
