HOUSE RESOLUTION AMENDING AND EXTENDING THE REPORTING DATE OF THE SPECIAL HOUSE COMMISSION TO STUDY THE BUDGETARY IMPACT OF A REORGANIZATION OF THE SHERIFFS, MARSHALLS AND CAPITOL POLICE

SECTION 1. 96-R 123 entitled "HOUSE RESOLUTION AMENDING AND EXTENDING THE REPORTING DATE OF THE SPECIAL HOUSE COMMISSION TO STUDY THE BUDGETARY IMPACT OF A REORGANIZATION OF THE SHERIFFS, MARSHALLS AND CAPITOL POLICE" is hereby amended to read as follows:

RESOLVED, That the special house commission created by resolution No. 152, passed by the general assembly at its January session, A.D. 1995, and effective May 25, 1995, entitled "House Resolution Creating a Special House Commission to Study the Budgetary Impact of a Reorganization of the Sheriffs, Marshalls and Capitol Police" is hereby authorized to continue its study and make a report to the house of representatives on or before January 10, 1997, and said commission shall expire on March 10, 1997; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the time for reporting authorized by resolution No. 152 passed by the house of representatives at its January session, A.D. 1995, and effective May 25, 1995, be and the same is hereby rescinded; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the membership of said commission is hereby amended to read as follows: said commission shall consist of {DEL six (6) DEL} {ADD eleven (11) ADD} members: three (3) of whom shall be from the house of representatives, not more than two (2) from the same political party, to be appointed by the speaker; one (1) of whom shall be the chief justice of the supreme court, or designee; one (1) of whom shall be a representative of the governor's office, to be appointed by the governor; {DEL and DEL} one (1) of whom shall be the director of the department of corrections, or designee{DEL . DEL} {ADD ; one (1) of whom shall be the director of the department of administration or designee; one (1) of whom shall be presiding justice of superior court, or designee; one (1) of whom shall be a member of the capitol police, appointed by the speaker of the house; one (1) of whom shall be a sheriff appointed by the speaker; and one (1) of whom shall be a state marshall appointed by the speaker.
