SENATE RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING AUGUST 4-10, 1996 AS NORTH KINGSTOWN WATER CONSERVATION WEEK

WHEREAS, Water is a vital natural resource; and

WHEREAS, Providing a pure water supply to the citizens of the State of Rhode Island is the responsibility of the municipal government; and

WHEREAS, Water conservation is an integral, if not essential, part of water resource management; and

WHEREAS, There is a need to educate people about conservation and efficient use of drinking water supplies; and

WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Division of Water Supply Management and the Town of North Kingstown have worked together to promote wiser water supply management planning; and

WHEREAS, We wish to recognize the achievements of communities and the successful implementation of water supply management plans; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby proclaims August 4-10, 1996 as North Kingstown Water Conservation Week; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the secretary of state be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the town of North Kingstown.
