WHEREAS, The goal of the Rhode Island Nurseryman's Association is to achieve a better environment for our citizens through advancement of turfgrass education, research and turfgrass technology; and
WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Nurseryman's Association provides generous funds for student scholarships; and
WHEREAS, Rhode Island Nurseryman's Association sponsors high quality educational convocations in order to disseminate up-to-date information on turfgrass technology throughout the State and the Nation; and
WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Nurseryman's Association plays an integral role in providing assistance to practitioners, coordinating events, and promoting the value of turfgrass to our State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Nurseryman's Association urges all public officials and the citizens of the State to join with them to recognize the value of the turfgrass industry to our State and the many benefits we accrue from healthy, natural turgrass; and
WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Nurseryman's Association urges all Rhode Islanders to maintain lawns and turf areas in a healthy condition not only during turf week, but throughout the year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby declares August 11-17, 1996 as "Turf Appreciation Week"; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the secretary of state be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Nurseryman's Association, Inc.
