H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO CREATE A SPECIAL BOARD TO STUDY THE USE OF THE PORT AND AIRPORT AT QUONSET POINT/DAVISVILLE

WHEREAS, The development of the Quonset Point/Davisville port and airport are a vital component of economic development of the state of Rhode Island as we approach the 21st Century; and

WHEREAS, It is extremely important to explore all options for development of said site to develop the most suitable and economically advantageous proposal for the state and the Narragansett Bay Communities; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby respectfully requests the Speaker of the House of Representatives to create a special board consisting of eleven (11) citizens of Rhode Island, seven (7) of whom shall be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and four (4) of whom shall be appointed by the Minority leader of the House of Representatives, to study the use of the port and airport at Quonset Point/Davisville giving special consideration to the special problems and needs of the Narragansett Bay Communities; and be it further

RESOLVED, That said "Board" shall not interfere with the current Master Plan for Quonset Point/Davisville Industrial Park; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
