WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services Week is a nationwide salute to more than 600,000 emergency medical technicians, 80,000 emergency nurses, and 27,000 emergency physicians who provide emergency care to our resident's each and every day; and
WHEREAS, The week's theme will be EMS: The Vital Link. This theme recognizes the important role that they play in rendering vital care and services; and
WHEREAS, EMS Week provides an excellent opportunity to raise public awareness and appreciation for these very essential services. It is also an opportunity to teach the public about injury prevention, safety awareness, and emergency preparedness; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby proclaim May 17-23, 1998 as Emergency Medical Services Week in Rhode Island and urges all Rhode Islanders to honor this week; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Peter Leary, Chief of the Division of Emergency Medical Services.
