WHEREAS, The Displaced Homemakers Center of Rhode Island was formed in 1978 through legislation enacted by the Rhode Island General Assembly, recognizing the need to provide support services to needy individuals who had lost income due to death, disability, or divorce; and
WHEREAS, Their mission .... "to serve women, single parents, and individuals in transition to achieve self-sufficiency " has continued and expanded over the past 20 years. While maintaining the current services, the Displaced Homemakers Center is now providing services to Aid to Families With Dependent Children recipients, especially helping them in the transition to self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, Serving new recipients through the Family Independence Program, they have a group employment assessment program which helps them enter into the work force; and
WHEREAS, With a proven track record over the past 20 years, they have continued to shoe their flexibility in meeting the demands of the community, and their effort shows !!!!; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the Displaced Homemakers Center of Rhode Island on their 20th anniversary and wishes them many more years of continued success; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Displaced Homemakers Center of Rhode Island.
