It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. An act entitled "An Act to Incorporate the Providence Gas Company" passed at the June session of the general assembly, A.D. 1847, as the same has been from time to time amended, is hereby further amended as set forth in sections 2 and 3 below:
SECTION 2. The Providence Gas Company, in addition to the powers heretofore granted to it, is hereby authorized and empowered to exercise the right of eminent domain for the purpose of acquiring any easements, rights of way or other interests in land, or other rights necessary or desirable for the installation, construction, extension, maintenance, alteration, use, or operation from time to time of a line or lines for the transmission of natural gas and for the installation, construction, extension, maintenance, alteration, use or operation of such regulators, pressure apparatus or other stations, equipment, or appurtenances as may be necessary or desirable for such transmission of natural gas in the manner and subject to the provisions of Rhode Island general laws 39-1-31.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.
