H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE DIRECTOR OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT TO IMMEDIATELY STUDY THE ERECTION OF A CONCRETE RETAINING WALL ALONGSIDE THE WOONASQUATUCKET RIVER NEXT TO THE ELDERLY HOUSING COMPLEXES IN THE TOWN OF NORTH PROVIDENCE

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby respectfully requests the Director of the Department of Environmental Management (DEM) in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to immediately study the erection of a concrete retaining wall alongside the Woonasquatucket River next to the Elderly Housing Complexes -- Centerdale Manor and Brook Village located in the town of North Providence to protect those residents from contaminated water and silt residue during flooding; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Director of DEM include in said study the feasibility of using funds from the Allendale Dam Reparation Fund for this purpose; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Director of DEM expeditiously report its findings and recommendations to the Rhode Island House of Representatives; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Director of the Department of Environmental Management, the Mayor of the Town of North Providence and the residents of Centerdale Manor and Brook Village.
