S E N A T E    R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING CHRISTOPHER BEAUREGARD ON ATTAINING THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

WHEREAS, In a society that grows increasingly fragmented and fractious, and all too often tempts its youth to selfish and unwise decisions, it is a very special young man who chooses to dedicate himself to the service of others by putting into practice the noble ideals of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Christopher Beauregard is just such a first-rate youth, and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and

WHEREAS, Christopher, the son of Bernie and Louise Beauregard of Woonsocket, joined Troop 2 in Woonsocket on June 30, 1992; and

WHEREAS, Christopher rapidly worked his way up through the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class by 1993. A year later, Christopher attained the rank of Star and in 1995 qualified as a Life Scout; and

WHEREAS, Working his way towards Eagle Scout, Christopher assumed the responsibility of Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, earned the 12 required Eagle merit badges Environmental Science, Swimming, Lifesaving, Camping, Citizenship in the Community, Safety, Family Life, Citizenship in the Nation, First Aid, Citizenship in the World, Communications, and Personal Management, as well as 16 other merit badges, including Cooking, Metalwork, Basketry, Canoeing, Rifle Shooting, Mammal Study, Wilderness Survival, Foresty, Wood Carving, Rock Climbing, Reptile Study, Pioneering, Rowing, Backpacking, Fish and Wildlife, and Sports; and

WHEREAS, He also received his BSA Lifeguard certification, completed the 1 mile swim and 50 mile hike and received his Philmont Arrow. For his Eagle project, Christopher ran a one week "Learn to Swim" program at the Woonsocket YMCA that was attended by 35 children; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby honors Christopher Beauregard for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Convinced that Christopher's distinguished career in Scouting will prepare him for a life replete with accomplishments and success, the membership is, likewise, certain that he will continue to dedicate a large part of that life to the service of others; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Christopher Beauregard.
