WHEREAS, The future of our state and country is our youth; and
WHEREAS, A youngster can usually name his or her favorite teachers, even as they are older, because they made a positive impact on their lives; and
WHEREAS, Some of our finest teachers have since retired from teaching but they will always remain in our hearts and minds as people who made a difference; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby recognizes April 7, 1999 as Rhode Island Retired Teachers' Day and this Senate also urges all public schools and citizens of the state to observe the occasion and take the opportunity to honor these fine people; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Thelma Rocha.
