H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

COMMEMORATING NATIONAL POLICE WEEK FROM MAY 10 - 15, 1999

WHEREAS, The freedoms that all Americans cherish and count on are protected every day by dedicated and devoted police officers who often risk their lives protecting the safety of our nation's citizens; and

WHEREAS, We especially thank those officers who have perished in the line of duty protecting our liberties and, quite often, giving their lives to save the life of another; and

WHEREAS, Today and everyday, thousands of courageous and caring police officers put their lives on the line protecting the public from harm; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations hereby thanks all of our police officers for all they do every day to protect the public and safeguard our liberties and, furthermore, we hereby declare May 10 - 15, 1999 to be National Police Week in Rhode Island; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the secretary of state be and he hereby is authorized and directed to transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the State Fraternal Order of Police.
