WHEREAS, The Rhode Island State Fraternal Order of Police will be attending the 54th Biennial National Fraternal Order of Police Conference in Mobile, Alabama August 9 -12, 1999; and
WHEREAS, The Rhode Island State Fraternal Order of Police will be bidding to host the 56th Biennial Fraternal Order of Police Conference in Rhode Island in August of 2003; and
WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Fraternal Order of Police will be in competition with Las Vegas and Orlando; and
WHEREAS, Over 5,000 delegates and family members of the Fraternal Order of Police will descend upon the State of Rhode Island for one week in August of 2003; and
WHEREAS, Rhode Island offers a long coastline of beautiful, sandy beaches, numerous excellent restaurants and interesting attractions for both adults and children throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, Governor Lincoln Almond, Lt. Governor Charles Fogarty, Mayor Vincent A. Cianci and Mayor Lincoln Chafee have all endorsed the Rhode Island Fraternal Order of Police in this endeavor; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations also endorse the Rhode Island State Fraternal Order of Police and urges the delegates at the Biennial Conference to vote for Rhode Island for the 2003 National Conference; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island State Fraternal Order of Police.
