J O I N T    R E S O L U T I O N

DESIGNATING THE BRISTOL FOURTH OF JULY PARADE AS THE OFFICIAL PARADE FOR THE RHODE ISLAND CELEBRATION OF THE 2000 YEAR MILLENIUM

WHEREAS, The Bristol Fourth of July Parade is a superb event heralding the heroic efforts of our nation's forefathers; and

WHEREAS, The Bristol Fourth of July Parade is a tremendous tourist event which attracts national attention; and

WHEREAS, The Bristol Fourth of July Parade is the oldest continuous celebration of Independence Day in the United States of America; now therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Bristol Fourth of July Parade is designated as the official parade for the Rhode Island celebration of the 2000 year millennium; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State is hereby authorized and directed to transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Bristol Fourth of July Committee.
