It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows

SECTION 1. The sum of $5,000 is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated to grant Laura A. Hoxsie, former employee at Ladd School, a retirement pension from July 1, 1997 to June 30, 1998 of $2,500 yearly; and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his orders upon the general treasurer from the payment of such sum or so much thereof as may be required from time to time upon receipt by him of properly authenticated vouchers.

SECTION 2. In the event of the death of said Laura A. Hoxsie, entitled to receive benefits in accordance with the provisions of this act, any remaining amount of said benefits shall revert back to thegeneral fund of the state.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage.
