§ 28-45-16. Reciprocity.
(a) When a sponsor of a registered apprenticeship program in a neighboring state requests reciprocal recognition from the department of labor and training to train apprentices for work projects in this state, the sponsor shall be granted recognition, providing the sponsor conforms with the regulations and standards of the state of Rhode Island for the occupation.

(c) The department of labor and training shall have the authority to expand or limit the number of states that are subject to the provisions of subsection (a) by regulation through the promulgation of rules and regulations.
(d) The department of labor and training shall accord reciprocal approval for federal purposes to apprentices, apprenticeship programs, and standards that are registered by another registration agency as defined in 29 C.F.R. § 29.2 or a registration agency recognized by the United States Department of Labor if the reciprocity is requested by the apprenticeship program sponsor. Program sponsors seeking reciprocal approval must meet Rhode Island wage and hour provisions and apprentice ratio standards.
