§ 42-125-5 Council created Appointment of members. The greenways council shall consist of seven (7) members to be appointed in the following manner:
Two (2) members shall represent the public and shall be
appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate; one member
shall be a city or town official and shall be appointed by the governor; one
member shall be the director of administration, or his or her designee; one
member shall be the executive director of the economic development corporation,
or his or her designee who shall be a subordinate within the economic
development corporation who shall serve as a nonvoting ex officio member; one
member shall be the director of the department of environmental management, or
his or her designee who shall be a subordinate within the department of
environmental management; and one member shall be the director of the
department of transportation, or his or her designee who shall be a subordinate
within the department of transportation. No one shall be eligible for
appointment unless he or she is a resident of this state. The members of the
council shall serve without compensation. Those members of the council as of
the effective date of this act [April 20, 2006] who were appointed to
the council by the governor shall continue to serve the balance of their
current terms. Thereafter, members shall be appointed to three (3) year terms.
All appointments made under this section after the effective date of this act
[April 20, 2006] shall be subject to the advice and consent of the
senate.
